Our methodology
How we verify pricing, check provider credentials, and rank results — and what we recommend you confirm yourself before booking.
What Pricing Verified means
Every listing shows one of two kinds of pricing, and we label them clearly:
- Pricing Verified means the price came directly from the provider. Practices that claim their listing and subscribe to a paid plan post their own treatment prices, which appear with a verified label. These are the provider’s actual posted prices, shown exactly as they entered them. Providers cannot pay us to change the prices we publish for anyone else.
- Estimated pricing applies to every other listing. We start from a national baseline range for each treatment — built from published market data and the prices providers post on our platform — and adjust it with a local market multiplier for each metro area, since the same treatment costs more in Manhattan than it does in Phoenix. Estimates always carry an “Estimated pricing” label and a “Last updated” date.
Estimated prices are a starting point for your research, not a quote. Always confirm the exact price directly with the provider before booking.
How we check credentials
Before a provider on a paid plan receives a verified badge, we run a credential review appropriate to their type of practice:
- Physicians — plastic surgeons, dermatologists, and other MDs and DOs — are matched against the federal NPI Registry, the national database of licensed healthcare providers.
- Nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and registered nurses are verified through their NPI record.
- Medical spas provide the name of their supervising medical director, and we verify that physician’s NPI.
- Permanent makeup and cosmetic tattoo artists provide a state license number where their state requires one. In the few states that do not license the practice, the listing notes that no state license is required.
We record the source of each credential we check. A credential review confirms that a provider is who they say they are — it is not a guarantee of the quality or outcome of any treatment.
What to verify yourself
Our review is a starting point. Before you book, we always recommend confirming a few things directly:
- Confirm the provider’s current license and standing with the relevant state medical, nursing, or licensing board.
- Confirm the exact price, what it includes, and any deposit policy with the provider — a published estimate is not a quote.
- Ask who will actually perform your treatment, and confirm that person’s qualifications.
- Read recent reviews. The star ratings and review counts we show are public Google ratings, displayed with their source.
How we rank results
When you search, providers with verified pricing appear first, followed by the closest providers to the ZIP code you entered. Each result shows the distance, the provider’s public Google rating, and the number of reviews, and you can re-sort by verified status, distance, rating, lowest price, or most reviews.
Placement is not for sale. A provider subscription pays for a claimed listing and verified pricing — it does not buy a higher position in your results.
Questions about how we work
This page sits alongside our about page, which covers why we exist and where our provider data comes from. For common treatment questions, see our frequently asked questions, or search for providers near you.
