What is a Microdermabrasion?

How is microdermabrasion different from a HydraFacial?
Microdermabrasion is dry. It abrades the surface of the skin and vacuums away the dead cells. A HydraFacial is wet, so it exfoliates and extracts while pushing hydrating serums into the skin at the same time. If your skin runs dry or sensitive, the wet treatments are usually more comfortable. How many sessions will I need?

Will it help my acne scars or wrinkles?
Not meaningfully. Microdermabrasion works on the very top layer of skin, and both acne scarring and wrinkles sit deeper than that. For indented acne scars, ask about subcision, microneedling or fractional laser. For lines, ask about neuromodulators or resurfacing. Microdermabrasion can improve the surface look and feel of your skin alongside those treatments.
