What is Lip Blush?
Lip blush is a form of permanent makeup (PMU) that deposits soft pigment into the lips using a tattoo technique. Unlike traditional lip liner tattoos, lip blush uses a stippling or shading method to create a gradient, natural-looking flush of color — similar to the effect of a tinted lip balm but longer-lasting.
Treatment takes 2 to 3 hours. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand. Color appears 30–50% darker in the first week before settling into its true healed tone. A mandatory touch-up at 6 to 8 weeks perfects shape and color retention. Results typically last 2 to 5 years depending on your skin type, sun exposure, and the pigments used.
Lip blush can also neutralize dark or uneven lip pigmentation, enhance lip shape, and create the illusion of fuller lips without filler. It is particularly popular for correcting asymmetry and adding definition to lips that lack natural color.
How much does Lip Blush cost?
Lip blush nationally typically costs $500 to $900 for the initial session, which includes the procedure and one mandatory touch-up appointment at 6 to 8 weeks.
What to ask your provider
- Can I see a portfolio of healed results — not just freshly done work?
- What pigments do you use and are they safe for my skin tone and undertone?
- Do you include the touch-up in the initial price?
- How do you handle color correction for dark or uneven lips?
- What is your experience with my skin tone and lip type?
- What aftercare products do you recommend and will they be provided?
