What is a Scalp Micropigmentation?
Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a cosmetic tattoo technique that deposits tiny dots of pigment on the scalp to mimic the look of closely shaved hair follicles. It creates the appearance of a fuller head of hair or a defined hairline and is used for thinning hair, pattern baldness, scars, and to add density alongside a transplant.
SMP is done over 2 to 4 sessions spaced a couple of weeks apart, each lasting a few hours, to build natural-looking density. Results are long-lasting — typically several years — with occasional touch-ups as pigment softens.
