What is a Lip Lift?
A lip lift is a surgical procedure that shortens the distance between the nose and the upper lip, rolling the lip slightly outward to show more pink, create a more defined cupid's bow, and reveal more of the upper teeth. Unlike filler, it changes lip proportion permanently rather than just adding volume.
The most common technique (bullhorn) uses an incision hidden at the base of the nose and takes under an hour under local anesthesia. Expect swelling and a visible incision for 1 to 2 weeks; the scar fades over several months and is usually well hidden.
A lip lift is ideal for a long upper lip or for people who want lasting lip enhancement without ongoing filler. A board-certified plastic or facial plastic surgeon performs it.
How much does a Lip Lift cost?
A lip lift nationally typically starts at $3,000 and ranges up to $5,000 all-in, depending on the technique and surgeon experience.

What to ask your provider
- Is a lip lift right for me, or would lip filler achieve my goal?
- Which lip lift technique do you recommend and why?
- Where will the incision be and how visible will the scar be?
- Are you board-certified and can I see your own before-and-after photos?
- What does the quote include — surgeon fee, anesthesia, and facility?
- How will the result look as I age?
