What is a PDO Thread Lift?
A PDO (polydioxanone) thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure that uses dissolvable sutures to lift and tighten sagging skin on the face, jowls, and neck. Barbed threads are inserted under the skin and gently pulled upward to reposition tissue, while also stimulating collagen production as they dissolve over 6 to 9 months.
Treatment takes 45 to 90 minutes depending on the number of threads placed. Results are immediate with continued improvement over 2 to 3 months as collagen builds. Effects typically last 12 to 24 months, after which threads can be re-placed.
PDO thread lifts work best for mild to moderate skin laxity — patients with significant sagging are better candidates for a surgical facelift. Common treatment areas include the jowls, midface, brow, and neck. Pricing is typically per session and varies by how many threads are placed and which areas are treated.
How much does a PDO Thread Lift cost?
A PDO thread lift nationally typically costs $1,500 to $2,250 per session, depending on the number of threads placed and areas treated. Full-face lifts cost more than targeted treatments. Total cost nationally typically ranges from $1,500 to $4,500.

What to ask your provider
- Am I a good candidate — is my skin laxity mild to moderate, or would a surgical facelift give better results?
- How many threads do you recommend for my goals, and which areas will you treat?
- What brand of threads do you use — Silhouette Instalift, Nova, or another?
- Who performs the procedure — an MD, NP, or PA? How many thread lifts have you performed?
- Can I see before-and-after photos from your own patients?
- What is the expected recovery — bruising, swelling, activity restrictions?
