What is a Thigh Lift?
A thigh lift (thighplasty) removes excess skin and fat from the inner or outer thighs to tighten and reshape the legs, smoothing sagging that diet and exercise cannot fix. It is most common after significant weight loss or with age-related laxity.
Surgery is done under general anesthesia and takes 2 to 3 hours, leaving incisions typically in the groin crease and sometimes down the inner thigh. Expect swelling, limited mobility, and compression garments for several weeks, with most people back to desk work in about 2 weeks and final results over a few months.
As with other body-lift procedures, tighter thighs come with scars, so scar placement and candidacy are key. A board-certified plastic surgeon performs it, sometimes with liposuction.
How much does a Thigh Lift cost?
A thigh lift nationally typically starts at $5,000 and ranges up to $8,000 all-in, depending on the extent of skin removal and whether liposuction is added.

What to ask your provider
- Am I a good candidate, and is my weight stable enough for surgery?
- Where will the incisions and scars be?
- Would liposuction alone work, or do I need skin removed?
- Are you board-certified and can I see your own before-and-after photos?
- What does the quote include — surgeon fee, anesthesia, and facility?
- What does recovery and scar care involve?
