What is a Microneedling with PRP?
Microneedling with PRP combines collagen-induction microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) drawn from your own blood. A small blood sample is spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and growth factors, which are then applied to the skin as the microneedling channels are created, helping them absorb deeper. The combination is often marketed as the 'vampire facial.'
The session takes about an hour including the blood draw and PRP preparation. A numbing cream is used. Skin looks red, like a sunburn, for one to two days, sometimes with mild swelling. The PRP growth factors are intended to speed healing and enhance the collagen and texture benefits versus microneedling alone.
It is popular for acne scars, fine lines, large pores, and overall skin quality. Most providers recommend a series of three or more sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Because PRP uses your own blood, it must be drawn and processed safely with sterile, single-use equipment.
How much does a Microneedling with PRP cost?
Microneedling with PRP nationally typically costs $500 to $900 per session, more than standard microneedling because of the blood draw and PRP processing.
