What is Microneedling?
Microneedling uses a device with fine needles to create thousands of controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This triggers the body’s natural wound-healing response, stimulating new collagen and elastin production over the following weeks. It is used to improve overall skin texture, acne scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, and uneven tone.
It tends to work best for rolling and boxcar acne scars, general texture, and early fine lines. It is less effective for deep ice-pick scars, active cystic acne, or significant skin laxity, which usually need other treatments. Good candidates are generally healthy adults with these concerns and no active breakouts, cold sores, or open lesions in the treatment area.
A session takes about 30 to 60 minutes, and most providers apply topical numbing cream 20 to 30 minutes beforehand. You may notice initial radiance within a week, with continued improvement over 4 to 6 weeks as new collagen forms. Most patients book a series of 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart for the best results.
RF (radiofrequency) microneedling — sold under brand names like Morpheus8, Vivace, or Genius — adds heat energy through the needles for stronger skin tightening and deeper remodeling, and typically costs more per session. Other alternatives include laser resurfacing (often more downtime, strong for texture and tone) and chemical peels (better for surface pigment and mild texture). Price depends on your provider’s training and credentials, your city, whether standard or RF microneedling is used, whether add-ons like PRP are included, and how many sessions you book.

A single microneedling session nationally typically costs $300 to $700. RF microneedling (Morpheus8, Vivace) runs higher. Most patients book a package of 3 to 6 sessions for full results.
